New Release!!
The first new release from Acoustitherapy in 4 years is here - Nature Walk! Great Colorado instrumentalists perform wonderful intrumentals that never get loud or fast but stays very slow, soft, and soothing. As a wonderful addition that is unlike any of the other Acoustitherapy compilation discs, Nature Walk has beautiful nature sounds side by side with the wonderful acoustic instrumentals. Also the nature sounds simulate a complete day. The Nature Walk CD starts with crickets chirping into a soft haunting native flute solo. It continues into some morning songbirds over a delightful solo piano work and a sweet cello and guitar duet. Then it takes you on a walk by the river accompanied by silver flute and a guitar duet, into an afternoon thunderstorm with cello and violin, and back to the coming cool evening with some crickets and a classical guitar. A gentle wind, native flute, guitar, and piano take us to the end of the CD fading out with the same crickets from the beginning. Nature Walk is a complete cycle of the day in 60 minutes and is great for seamlessly repeating as it washes away our stress and grounds our turbulent lives!
Nature Walk- Use this music to ground your being. It is great for visualization, morning wake-up, peace meditations, reconnecting with nature, and general down time.
What is Acoustitherapy...
Acoustitherapy is the use of sound, music and musical interventions in order to restore, maintain, and improve emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual health. This Acoustitherapy website was developed to bring you sound and music related products, information, and forums in a collected and easy to use medium. Help yourself now!
In 1996, we set out to deliver the best collection of music and sound related products to help people via this untapped resource. We believed that music and sound is functional and can help people improve their environments, bodies, minds, and spirits, basically, every facet of their lives. It was a big task, but as we researched, we discovered some interesting things.
The belief that sound and music can alter moods has been with us from the dawn of history. Its ability to change states of mind, body, and spirit are only now becoming documented throughout the world. The American Music Therapy Association has listed 8 ways sound and music can be used in life.
- To serve as an audio analgesic or sedative - or to otherwise positively affect biomedical or psychosocial states.
- To serve as the focus of attention and/or to structure exercise
- To initiate and enhance relationships
- To reinforce learning
- To provide auditory stimulation/feedback or mask ambient noise
- To structure pleasurable and positive interpersonal interactions.
- To serve as reinforcement or structure for healthful changes in physiological, emotional, or lifestyle skills.
- To promote stress reduction/mind-body health.
Also, in your ears, the auditory nerve connects the inner ear with all the muscles in the body. This is called the Vibroacoustic memory. Since sound and music is actually physical vibrations in space, we can directly control the vibratory feel of our emotions with our choice of sounds and music. Pleasant sounds lead to a relaxed and pleased physical state. It is true...nothing like good vibrations! And, music and sound affects body temperature and respiration. They can raise body temperature (musical energy dissipates as heat) and lead to slower and deeper breathing that aids in emotional renewal.
Try this when you are listening to the samples on this page. Mentally scan your mind for anxiety, then discharge that anxiety through breathing. Let the soothing music spread throughout your body as images of warmth and calm encourage progressive mental relaxation. With sequential reflection, you will gradually surrender the accumulated anxiety of the day.

The music on “ Ambiance” was chosen to soften your environment. Often in our homes and offices, noise pollution continually disrupts healthy biorhythms. In fact, the word "noise" is derived from the Latin word "nausea" or from a derivative (perhaps Latin noxia) of Latin noceō meaning "I do harm". Problems related to noise include stress, high blood pressure, sleep loss, distraction and lost productivity, and a general reduction in the quality of life and opportunities for tranquility. The sensory and intellectual stimulation of music can help restore and maintain a person\'s quality of life.

The music on " Relaxation" was chosen to calm the mind. Music like this produces slow brain waves of 8 to 13 hertz. Ordinary consciousness is beta waves 14 to 20 hertz. The slower the brain waves, the more relaxed and peaceful we feel.

 |
The music on " Release and Regeneration" was chosen to relieve tension. Catharsis and the release of tension and emotion are directly tied to our bodies. It functions on a deep tension and release process used in massage therapy. The music reduces body tension and improves body movement through the connection of the inner ear with all the muscles in the body. It is medicine for the body.

 |
The music on " Gentle Passion" was chosen to heal the heart. Music like this can summon intense romantic or sensual feelings because it increases levels of DHEA (a hormone associated with Sex and sensuality) while the soothing aspects help in the mending of our most important organ, our romantic heart.

 |
The music on “ World Meditations” provides a unique and profound state of restful alertness. The music aids a natural process, requiring neither specific beliefs nor adoption of a particular lifestyle but rather produces an environment perfect for spiritual growth and freedom. Over 500 scientific research studies conducted during the past 25 years around the world have shown that meditation benefits all areas of an individual\'s life.
